Do You Know What It's Like?
Written by a CHS student in Spring, 2002 Do you know what it's like, not to have any friends, give 'em all up and start over again? Lose everything that was nothing, yet want it again? Try to find the root of the problem but stop at the stem? Have you ever been told that you'll never change, that you have a disease that won't go away? Have you ever put God off for just one day, seen your dreams, hopes and goals fade away? Do you look in the mirror and see the old you? Get scared by your actions and stupid things you do? Do you ask God to guide you and show you the way, but reject His instructions and continue astray? Have you ever been so wrapped up in life, you've forgotten to breathe, thank the Lord above, or drop to your knees? Have you ever been so scared, alone, or confused that you needed someone's help, but did not know whose? No matter how much you do right you'll always be wrong? Just keep trusting God and try to be strong! On life BEFORE sobriety:
"My life was hell. Everything was so messed up. My life was lies and stealing." -Kane G. "It was a constant search for drugs. School: Either I did not go or I went to meet up with people to leave. Now school is a responsibility; it is a blessing. CHS is a good atmosphere for recovery." - Jeff J. On BEING CLEAN: "It is not just about being clean but learning a new way to live. I have a Higher Power I can depend upon and choose to rely on something called Spiritual Principles." - Jay G. "Community has become a safe place for me in a world with very few places I can classify as safe. It has become a place where my recovery grows everyday. I find support and love from the students, teachers, and alumni of CHS." - Valerie E. "CHS is a close-knit community. Good friends, real friends I can share real experiences with rather than getting high. I have long lasting friends, even after they leave the school. These are real friendships not surface relationships." - Nick P. On the TEACHERS: "They can relate on a recovery level. They support me in my recovery and my academics." -Nick P. "[English class] is more based on me as an individual rather than the entire class." -Catie E. |
